Welcome to Sid Rich!

Congratulations! You have been placed in the tallest and most superior residential college on Rice’s campus. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome you into our home. We hope that this website, along with the materials we have sent you in the mail, will serve you well while you prepare for your arrival at Rice.

Arriving at college may seem very similar to diving into a big, deep, and scary ocean. It is for exactly that reason we chose this year’s Sid Rich O-Week theme: Finding NemO-Week. You will soon be living in a new place, making new friends, and taking new and exciting classes here at Rice. This is daunting, but we have good news: there are lots of people in the same boat as you.… (Get it?). O-Week is something that every Rice student experiences, and we encourage you to get as much out of it as you can. It’s a favorite memory of all of ours. As your Sid Richardson College Finding NemO-Week coordinators, we are here to help you to navigate the ocean.

Please email us at SidOWeek2012@gmail.com with any questions you may have (or just to say hello! We’d like that!).

“Just keep swimming,”

P.S. You may be asking yourself why we chose the additional “SHARK.” theme on top of Finding NemO-Week. First of all, Shark Week is awesome. Secondly, you will soon discover that Sid has two sides: we are a supportive family, but we also have a rebellious streak. We wanted to represent both of these in our O-Week. But don’t worry: “Fish are friends, not food.”
